Is Dynamics NAV to become the latest Microsoft product added to the 365 package?

Last week, Microsoft hosted its premier annual partner event, Microsoft Inspire, in Washington D.C. What Microsoft aims to achieve here is to showcase its current business trajectory, win new business with its partners and provide a stage on which new products and services are often announced. With Microsoft Inspire drawing to a close, there are some interesting developments regarding the Dynamics 365 package.

For decades, Microsoft have produced and sold different versions of the NAV, CRM and AX packages, with each product being innovated individually. The latest release of Dynamics 365 marks a ground-breaking move by Microsoft to merge CRM and ERP technologies together and create a single solution for businesses.

It had initially been announced that Dynamics NAV would remain as a stand-alone product, but after the release of NAV 2017, it now looks likely that Dynamics NAV will also be merged into the 365 package. SMEs are a very important part of the European economy, as they represent around 99% of all enterprises and employ an increasing number of people. Microsoft will now be able to target these businesses more easily, offering a solution for small to medium as well as enterprise businesses. Essentially, this is a product offering that is easier to configure, does not need on premise hardware and the customer can choose the functionality they require, rather than purchasing the entire package.

So, with Dynamics NAV transforming into the Dynamics 365 package in the future, it will give Microsoft more opportunities to deliver even better value for money to its customers. More news is expected to come through from Microsoft’s marketing team in the near future.
